Michelle Ly’s story starts with family, hard work, and gratitude. As the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, she grew up watching her parents do whatever it took to give their three children a better life. Those lessons stuck. Today, Michelle is a mom, a small business owner, and a public servant who cares deeply about Round Rock and the people who call it home.

Becoming a mother changed how Michelle sees leadership. Her daughter, Reagan, is a constant reminder that the decisions made today shape the future for the next generation. Michelle believes growth comes with challenges, and that strong communities are built by facing those challenges thoughtfully and together.

Michelle and her husband, Erik, co-own four local businesses – Hall Roofing & Construction, The Rock Sports Bar, Alcove Cantina, and The Flats Round Rock. As Operations Manager at Hall Roofing & Construction, Michelle leads by teaching, listening, and showing up every day. She believes trust is earned through consistency, and she brings that same mindset to public service.

Her leadership has also been recognized beyond Round Rock. In 2026, Michelle received the National Women in Roofing (NWIR) World Award, honoring experienced professionals who lead with integrity and service. In 2023, she received Internation Female Roofing Professional of the year. She was also named an Austin Woman Change Maker, recognizing women who are making a real difference in the community and helping Austin grow in the right direction.

Michelle’s approach is simple. Listen first. Ask the hard questions. Work toward solutions that make sense for everyone involved. She values collaboration and believes the best outcomes come from bringing people to the table.

A proud product of Round Rock ISD, Michelle has quietly given back to the community for decades. For more than 20 years, she has supported Prevent Child Abuse of America and the Girl Scouts through annual fundraisers. She has also helped raise funds for Backpack Friends, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, RRISD Partners in Education (PIE), and the Texas A&M Scholarship Foundation.

Michelle has served on the City of Round Rock Planning and Zoning Commission and remains active in the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, CHASCO YMCA, and Chaparral Women’s Club. She is a graduate of Leadership Round Rock, the three-year Ascend Emerging Leaders program, and Leadership RRISD. She currently serves on the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center Board of Directors, Rotary Club of Round Rock Executive Board, Round Rock Chamber Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the Chapter Advisory Board of Kappa Delta, the Executive Board of NWIR – Central Texas Council, serves as a homeroom parent, and on the council for Parent Support Team at Reagan’s school.

Michelle continues to serve Round Rock because she believes in this community. She wants a safe city with a welcoming business environment, cares about quality of life, and leadership that stays focused on people – today and for generations to come.

Leading with gratitude. Thank you to everyone that came out to support my reelection campaign kickoff as we celebrate the Lunar New Year as well. It was a time centered on renewal, gratitude, and good fortune. It’s a season that invites us to reflect on where we’ve been and to move forward with intention, hope, and optimism for what’s ahead. ... See MoreSee Less
